WGS Pricing May Cost Our Customers Less!

Now that we've processed many samples from a variety of artefacts, we are seeing a trend in relation to whole genome sequencing requirements.

Our Pass 1 step is our quality check to determine if there is sufficient data associated with a DNA sample to recommend progressing to full whole genome sequencing (WGS). WGS is the process that then allows us to generate an Autosomal DNA file suitable for upload to GEDmatch.

Some DNA requires full (deep) sequencing at 80GB. Some DNA is "better" (i.e. more data from Pass 1) and requires less sequencing at 40GB. Some DNA provides us with even better data from our Pass 1 step and requires further bioinformatics work only.

So we now have three products within our Pass 2 - WGS step:

1. WGS Analysis @ $950USD

2. Pass 2 - 40GB @$1400USD

3. Pass 2 - 80GB @1800USD

We are not able to correlate the amount of sequencing required to a particular artefact type. For example, hair with roots or an envelope flap may require any of the above options. It really comes down to the amount of DNA we are able to retrieve from a particular artefact itself.

This does mean that if we are lucky and analysis only is required, the cost is less - always a good thing!
