We provide Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) where this is the only option available, or the customer wants as much data as possible from the DNA sample. Data includes autosomal DNA, mitochondrial DNA, and YDNA in the case of males.

Our Pass 1 - Quality Assessment will guide our recommendation to you to proceed to WGS We will only advise progressing to WGS where Pass 1 indicates the DNA is suitable for WGS and we expect a successful outcome.

We recommend WGS in cases where the DNA sample is fragmented to such an extent that we cannot process the DNA through microarray-based genotyping.

You will be provided with the full FASTQ file, as well as an autosomal DNA file suitable for upload to GEDmatch. The data may require some imputation in order to enable upload to GEDmatch, depending on the quality of the data returned through the WGS process. The data may not be as complete as a DNA file from a living donor. YDNA data may not be complete, depending on the DNA quality. We consider a file to be suitable for DNA matching at GEDmatch when a GEDmatch Kit Diagnostic Utility shows the file as “good”.

There is always the small possibility that we will not be able to successfully sequence the DNA. In all cases we will discuss your options, expected results and pricing prior to progressing your sample. If your sample does fail after WGS, totheletter DNA will refund the WGS charge to the customer except for our costs. While this means there is still a significant expense for the customer, it is some compensation for an unsuccessful outcome.

Payments from other countries will be converted to US Dollars at the time of payment by Stripe or PayPal, depending on which payment gateway you choose.
